EMDR
Trauma counseling in a nurturing environment.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, better known as EMDR, has been used for decades by psychotherapists to help their patients alleviate the pain and distress that is associated with traumatic events and memories. In my practice, I use EMDR by having my patients use bilateral stimulation while recalling an event (past or present) like in REM sleep.
I utilize EMDR in my practice, because I have found that it is effective and approachable for my patients. By providing my patients a comfortable, trusting environment, we are able to work together to dive into what is causing you distress. I also use EMDR because it works. Various controlled studies have been conducted around the effectiveness of EMDR, and according to some studies, between 84% and 90% of single-trauma patients reported no longer having PTSD after only a few sessions with a trained psychotherapist. While I cannot guarantee those types of results to all of my patients, I am committed to working with you to come to terms with your trauma and grief so you can live a life of freedom.
Trying to deal with loss, grief, and trauma on your own is difficult. The self-doubt and nagging voice in your head saying negative things can bring you down and make the idea of recovery seem insurmountable. I have seen first-hand how the right help and the right support can help people suffering from addiction, PTSD, traumatic loss, and grief.
